my first attempt at trying to learn blender led me to question whether programs should be allowed to resemble the interior of a spaceship control deck (wtf?)

it's pretty overwhelming but i am now curious to find out whether this technically-aesthetic appeal and the srsly kewl factor actually correlate to my learning curve.
