the mysterious birth of ideas

i have been reading the marvellous novel by italo calvino that is titled if on a winter's night a traveller. i don't intend to spoil it for anyone, but i want to point out that reading it in a public place such as buses and trains has the same effect on one as making out on a crowded beach in broad daylight. it is as rich in sensuality and innuendos as a lynchian film and just as mysterious and twisted, with an ironic touch of humour. i love it.

this morning, a very pleasant thing happened. i received an unexpected e-mail from my beloved friend, v. i spent the afternoon at a cafe, furiously scribbling away my reply in my notebook. i wrote seven pages, but the notebook is very small. i must remember to post it tomorrow.

in other news, after a long hiatus, i have started writing a new story. i am not sure if you can call it a 'story' because a lot of it seems to come straight from the innermost chamber of my heart. it is an arduous and tentative process but i can feel it slowly emerging. i shall write more about it later.

do you mind if i always love you
heaven's gonna burn your eyes
